How much can you earn playing poker online?

Professional poker players can reach a level of professionalism that allows them to make their hobby their way of life.

Being able to use technique and experience as a tool to be able to make a living from the profits derived from the game is something that is within the reach of few, but those who manage to do so can manage sufficiently high amounts of money to forget about looking for a conventional job.

How much does an online poker player earn on average in Spain?

Although we can get an idea of how much you can earn playing online poker, for many it is an unknown figure range that professional players handle. It is something that depends greatly on the volume of prizes to a greater extent, as well as the jackpots to which you opt, but also influences the perseverance and the risks you take.

In this post we already talked about what you could win playing poker, also taking into account the face-to-face modalities and the live cash games. Although now we are going to focus exclusively on online poker, the average calculations used to extract the potential winnings of a player based on the time spent can be used as a reference. But be careful: the winrate changes depending on the type of game. It will not be the same whether we are talking about a live cash table, a tournament or an online poker game.

According to statistics, only 1 out of 10 players is good enough to be able to make a living from poker. Making money in online poker is a matter of skill, dedication, time and experience, as well as a lot of discipline. Those who manage to do it define it as a job, with intense days and in which you have to give the maximum to maintain that character of continuous training.

Measuring profits is something that is achieved with the winrate, which measures the amount of money earned per hour, something that we can know by taking data from the big blinds. The BB of a 100 € table would be 1 €, and a 300 € table would have a BB of 3 €.

Now let's imagine we want to know how much an online poker player earns per month who plays 6 hours a day, 5 days a week. A month has four weeks, so let's use that data to know how many hours he has played. 6x5x4 = 120 hours. This data, as we commented at the time in the previous reference post, is crucial to calculate the total winnings of a poker player.

How much can you win playing online poker in other parts of the world?

Establishing win rates by countries and nationalities is both erroneous and inefficient. The winrate is associated to the player's bets, his playing time and his efficiency as a poker professional, not to the country of origin of the platform in which he plays.

And while in live poker games it is more common to establish winnings rankings by territory, in online poker this makes no sense, whose attraction is precisely how globalized it is.

Those who have the ability to earn enough money playing poker can manage different amounts depending on how they use the money earned. What is clear is that a poker player who has made this game his way of life cannot stop playing, even if he earns enough to cover all his needs, since everything here depends on skill.

If you stop playing, you run the risk of losing skills. Rust can play tricks, and that goes against the very need to make poker a livelihood. Continuity must be guaranteed and, therefore, maintaining a constant and disciplined rhythm is important. It always is in poker, but even more so when we talk about earning money for everyday personal needs.

To get an idea of how much can be earned playing online poker, we can consult some public data. For example, a solid, consistent, disciplined player who spends on average about 200 hours a month playing, the rewards can move in a very wide range, between 1.000 and 150.000 euros, depending on the skill and the size of the pot.

Winning money in poker is possible, but the volume varies depending on the player and the game. This is also influenced by rakeback winnings, special bonuses in those territories where they are regulated, as well as any other incentives.

In SNG poker, multipliers have a brutal incidence on the volume of winnings, since their mere appearance automatically alters the volume of winnings, and this has a direct impact on the amount that the player receives.

It also depends on the size of the bets allowed, something that each table stipulates. Therefore, any player will look at the limits allowed to bet, and thus play within the limits that fit what each user wants. A professional usually chooses high limits, although he does not necessarily always have to choose tables with high limits. It all depends on the game you are looking for.

If we look at the round amounts associated with the world's top poker players, we can see that not only is it possible to make money playing poker, but we can transfer those advantages to online poker by employing the same pillars to improve game play, strategy and results.

Negreanu has earnings of over $40 million, Bryn Kenney is estimated to have reached $55 million. Vanessa Selbst has earned almost 15 million, Kathy Liebert about 6 million and Annie Duke almost reaches 5 million.

It is worth mentioning that many professional players are present both in live competitions and online games, so we are talking about versatile players with different winrates for live and online games.
