César García claims first Spanish title at EPT Monte Carlo 2025
The 2025 EPT Monte Carlo festival kicked off with fireworks for Team Spain as César García clinched the nation’s first trophy in the €10,200 Pot Limit Omaha event. After a fierce heads-up battle against Brazilian pro João Simão, García emerged victorious, pocketing €165,600 and writing his name in Spanish poker history.
Fresh off a third-place finish in the €5,200 PLO event, García carried that momentum to defeat some of the game’s best. The final table included stars like Ka Kwan Lau (5th, €46,200) and Lautaro Guerra (4th, €59,800), both recognized as PLO experts in the international scene.
The event drew 56 entries, with the final payouts also including Matthew Wantman (6th), Liangce Ni (7th), and Farid Jattin (8th). García's win marks a milestone for Spanish poker at EPT Monte Carlo, showing his growth as a formidable tournament player.
Elsewhere, the Spanish contingent is also pushing deep into the Main Event, with Rafael Navas leading the way into Day 2, followed by Manel Montalbán, Mario Navarro, and Juan Pardo among others.
César García's triumph sets the tone for Spain’s presence at the EPT Monte Carlo 2025 — with plenty more action to come.
