The sports betting and poker world is grappling with a new controversy following the arrest of Shane Hennen, a Las Vegas grinder accused of participating in a scheme involving sports stat manipulation and cheating in private poker games.


Arrest at the Airport


Hennen was intercepted last Sunday at Harry Reid International Airport in Nevada while attempting to board a one-way flight to Colombia. His actions raised suspicions of an escape plan. The arrest is part of a broader investigation led by the Eastern District of New York.

Jontay Porter’s Role


The investigation also implicates former NBA player Jontay Porter, known for his time with the Toronto Raptors and as the brother of NBA champion Michael Porter Jr. Porter was banned for life from the league after admitting to faking injuries to manipulate betting outcomes. He also accrued significant debts with a group of gamblers, including Hennen, and provided insider information about his performance.

Poker Scandal


Hennen is not only tied to the NBA betting scandal but is also accused of cheating in high-stakes poker games in Los Angeles. Prominent players like Wesley Fei and Nik Arcot have accused him of being part of a group that allegedly defrauded millions in private games.

Hennen is expected to appear in court in the coming days, with the possibility of extradition to New York. Meanwhile, the investigation continues, with other implicated individuals already pleading guilty to fraud and manipulation charges.
