During the 3-handed phase of the tournament, Satyarthi and Hawkins went all-in preflop. Satyarthi held ♠️Q♠️10, while Hawkins had ♦️A♦️3. The board ran out ♠️K♠️2♠️10♠️4, giving Satyarthi a flush. However, the dealer incorrectly awarded the pot to Hawkins, who had made a straight on the river.
Neither the dealer, Hawkins, nor even Satyarthi noticed the error at the moment. As a result, Satyarthi was eliminated in third place, missing out on the heads-up battle.
According to the Tournament Directors Association (TDA), a hand can be contested until the next hand begins. However, once substantial action has occurred in a new hand, the result stands. Since the error was only discovered hours later, there was no way to reverse the ruling.
